Our new website is here!

The gestation period was a bit long, but our website has finally been updated!

Our old site….

OK, so the baby analogy is probably wearing a bit thin, but for those of you who have lovingly crafted a website brief, worked with a designer/ developer and stared into the WordPress back end to get your website live, you’ll understand where I’m coming from.

I’m pretty darned pleased with our new site. Its bright, colourful and simple – very on brand for Marketing Harmony. Our old site was good but it didn’t showcase our wares and our clients had better sites than us!

The problem was, we were so busy working with our lovely clients that we didn’t have the time to focus on ourselves. But thanks to the help of Chloe, our marketing intern and Stephen, our web developer, we’ve finally got it over the line.

Both sites have been built in WordPress and our new site has been built on the Jupiter template.

Lovely shiny new site!

Iteration vs Perfection

Now don’t get me wrong, its not perfect and there are gaps in the content, but that really is OK. Iteration not perfection is the aim of the game and trying to be perfect is the reason our site took so long to get live. This is a trap we see so many of our clients falling into. And yes I do get the irony here!

Reid Hoffman, founder of LinkedIn said “If you are not embarrassed by the first version of your product, you’ve launched too late.” And to be honest our first website was pretty dire. It did what it needed to do, which was to launch Marketing Harmony to the world but it wasn’t quite right.

So our new site is also not quite right, it just needs nurturing and moulding to make it better. We are not aiming for perfection as this unattainable goal stops you make mistakes and learning. “If you’re not making mistakes you’re probably not trying hard enough” – apparently Evan Davis said this but I’m pretty sure my Nan said something similar plenty of times when I was growing up!

New content including case studies and new testimonials (feel free to send one over if you haven’t managed it yet) will be added as well as how to guides and templates. A full content plan and roll plan out is in place.

So, I would love to hear what you think about our new site. What’s wrong with it? What’s right with it? What do you think is missing?
